Why?
I actually and on the contrary think they are rather cute.
To me it looks like the teen fashion is the same everywhere in the world, which I don´t think is a bad thing.
Even though I wouldn´t like it if traditional national dress disappeared completely, but I don´t think there is any danger of that.
By the way, how do you like the way our star Björk dresses? She can be called anything but conventional in what she gets together for wear and the way she used to do her hair! I always thought it was great fun to see what she would figure out to do next in that direction. Since she became a celebrity she has developed some elegance with the help of class designers and a style completely her own.

Yes, I will admit that Bjork realy has kept me very impressed with her ever changing presentation, she is never afraid to be original.
I think being familiar with the Japanese mind-set what I see is really just silly copy cat fashion, in those pics. Even when the Japanes might seem to want to stand out of the crowd, you can bet ,deep down, they are actually conforming to somone elses idea of unique. I know such is the case all around the world, and you can't blame young people from imulating the stars they idolize, but I don't have to like it !

Ha,ha, that´s so very true, Mr. Newt!
Yes, and you are of course very right about how some youngsters get to feel that they have to adhere to a set code of dress within a certain frame of what is "in" and what is "out" at that moment, dictated by fashion people and vendors. It´s too bad when fashion becomes a slavery and money-plucking mashine. Björk is an example of exactly the opposite, even though she became a trendsetter herself with her strange ways. She has always dressed and looked the way she wanted herself, never dictated by convention. I remember her on on a tv-show as a teenager wearing a pink balldress with a fluffy skirt and a pair of wellieboots to go with it. And later when pregnant, she shocked the nation by baring her big belly on another show, wearing a timy, short top and a skirt that went under her bulge (containing her son Sindri).
