Icelander number 300.000 was born on January 9th

This is a photo taken today of Icelander number 300.000, a beautiful boy born yesterday, in the arms of his mother in bed at the maternity ward of the Landspítali (Iceland National Hospital), with his father sitting by the bedside and prime minister Halldór Ásgrímsson visiting this brand new citizen of Iceland.

Imagine being on national, and now international, media the day after giving birth.

Congrats on hitting the 300,000 mark.

Speaking of the Icelandic gene pool. My family has a streak of bipolar disorder and I've always been grateful to the Icelandic genetics research that bore so much fruit for scientists studying this illness.
