Your Inner European is Italian!

Passionate and colorful.

You show the world what culture really is.

Jæja já

You are dependable, popular, and observant.
Deep and thoughtful, you are prone to moodiness.
In fact, your emotions tend to influence everything you do.

You are unique, creative, and expressive.
You don't mind waving your freak flag every once and a while.
And lucky for you, most people find your weird ways charming!

You Are Likely an Only Child

At your darkest moments, you feel frustrated.
At work and school, you do best when you're organizing.
When you love someone, you tend to worry about them.

In friendship, you are emotional and sympathetic.
Your ideal careers are: radio announcer, finance, teaching, ministry, and management.
You will leave your mark on the world with organizational leadership, maybe as the author of self-help books.

Actually, I´m a middle-child, the third of five. But actually, also, I sometimes call myself "the middle-group", as there is a longer gap on either side between me and the other two pairs of sisters than there is between them!

Latest news about Aron Pálmi is that according to Fréttablaðið he will be back home in Iceland before middle of September. He will then be allowed to finish his sentence here by an agreement with the authorities of the state of Texas.

I could have Used 500.000 GBP (57.285.000,- Ikr.) in Some Ways doing a Lot of Things (going on a World Cruise being one of them), but this website has all the information (lots of it anyway) about the Nigeria-based UK-Fake (Stake) Lottery that promised to e-mail me Loads of Money out of the BLUE ... >súkk<
I almost never win in lotteries anyway, probably because I almost never buy the tickets, which I had not done either in this case!

My Reykjavík Culture Night 2005 - last Saturday! (how quickly time passes!)

---Fireworks on Miðbakki---Jónsi of "Dressed in Black"---Andrea Gylfa of Todmobile---

Óskar and I went there for a bit around in the night from about 20.00, don´t know why we didn´t go earlier, sheer laziness I seem to remember! We saw Gulli Briem´s group playing excerpts from his recent CD album "Earth Affair" in front of the Landsbanki (National Bank of Iceland), one of the guys was playing electrical pipes and some strange kind of a flute - enchanting and strange music. We went for hot chocolate in a café above the bookstore IÐA, where I also happened to see the pink star light I´ve been waiting to find for our bedroom (the existing light is a horrible old brown thing) and a darling wonderful pink toymouse (both of which I went straight after work and bought on the Monday. The mouse was promptly named Milla). After that we went to the "Miðbakki" for a concert. First on was the group "Í svörtum fötum" (Dressed in Black), joined by The Police Choir in one number!. Then a very popular duo, the troubadour and country singer KK (Kristján Kristjánsson) and Magnús Eiríksson, his longtime companion in music. Last but not least the (revived for the night) group, "Todmobile", that used to be very popular in the nineties - still going strong! All groups were great. And at the end, just before midnight
The Fireworks !
- they were great too - even though cut shorter than usually by a heavy rainfall - but long enough for my taste and pleasure. After that - everybody running to their cars - soaked!
Err - ok - sorry to say, not everyone managed the running - we ran upon a lady who had fallen smash into a pile of stones - cutting her nose, bleeding - Óskar and another nice guy helped her into the emergency service car that thank God was parked close by. A very busy night for the police. security and first-aid people. Traffic back to the suburbs was amazingly smooth thanks to effective planning by our nice and friendly policeforce in Reykjavík: we only had to wait for about half an hour until being able to get on our way back home - for some more hot chocolate before going straight to bed!

Read this: The Case of Aron Pá

Aron Pálmi Ágústsson:
Born in Reykjavik, 14th July 1983
Parents: Hulda Hermannsdottir and Ágúst Ragnarsson
Aunt: Valgerdur Hermannsdottir
1985: Travelled to the States with his mother where they relocated.
Stepfather: Dean Tomas, Houston, Texas
1996: At the age of 12-13. A fatal error in childish judgement/misconduct
1997: Court hearings, Aron held in house arrest for 8 months
Prosecutor: Mike Trent; defence attorney: A family friend and lawyer
1997: Sentenced to spend 10 years in a correctional facility in the State of Texas penal system
1997-2002 : Prisoned in Merlin, then at Giddings in Harris County
1997-2000 : The Icelandic Office of Foreign Affairs makes efforts for his extradition but to no awail.
2002: Gets limited parole, placed at house arrest in Beaumont, Texas, where he lives alone and is required to wear a GPS device on his ankle.
2005: The RJF-Group and others starts a campaign for his release and permission to return to Iceland. On May 29th: A collective prayer for young Aron Pálmi made at all of the churches in Iceland.

Aron Pálmi´s address:
893 Alma Street

Tel: 00 1 409 838 6319

The way I heard the story of this, Aron´s version of it, his crime was this: His 7 year old neighbour from next house dared him, the new foreign boy in the neighbourhood, teasing him and telling him to "suck my dick!". Which Aron reacted on by promptly pulling the boys trousers down and taking his penis into his mouth for a short moment, after which the younger boy ran home and told his parents his own version of the incident. This is the version of the incident I heard anyway and what members of his support group mean when referring to "A fatal error in childish judgement/misconduct" in his bio above. In my opinion, if true, not solid ground for sending a youngster, a child, to prison for ten years.

My question, if this is the whole story, is : Where does a 7 year old learn to utter a sentence like "Suck my dick"? From the grown-ups around him,
I would think! Double moral standards all around, in my opinion, something glaringly obvious in American society to us Europeans.

What other nation would make public mockery to the whole world of their president´s strange sexual desires, even though he is a great politician, making that the main issue of news day after day, publishing the most intimate and humiliating details of his private life. I´m talking about Clinton, if you don´t get me. And to make things even worse, electing that "saintly" idiot Bush for their next president! Whereas the late French president´s Francois Mitterand´s mistress came to his funeral with their daughter and stood there side by side with his wife and family, allowed to mourn with them. I think that is a great show of tolerance and human dignity, that the Americans could learn from.

Of course I know that there are (and always have been) perverts, sexual offenders and violators (example 1 , example 2) everywhere and of all ages, but in my opinion, Aron Pálmi is not one of them.

Today: Bach´s St. Matthew Passion

Alto parts were sung by Robin Blaze, an English countertenor with an amazingly beautiful voice.

He sang the two most beautiful (in my opinion) arias of the Passion with perfection:

39 Aria (Alto)
Erbarme dich,
Mein gott, um meiner Zähren willen!
Schaue hier,
Herz und Auge
Weint für dir
Bitterlich

52 Aria (Alto)
Können Tränen meine Wangen
Nichts erlangen,
O, so nehmt mein Herz hinein!
Aber lasst es bei den Fluten,
Wenn die Wunden milde bluten,
auch die Opferschale sein.

My Old Ollie

(next to Óskar!)
Our car, called "Old Ollie" is an Opel Astra station, made in Germany 1995. He is just like the one in the photo, except that our car is Burgundy red.
I bought him in 2001. Ollie has served us well, he is a very nice car, automatic and with lots of space in the rear, which can come in very handy. But now he is getting a bit tired and needing more maintenance. He has never failed us, he only needs loving care and being looked after, then he will still take us anywhere we want to go!

Icelandic Artists

Latino Lover!

One of my cousins, Páll Torfi Önundarson, M.D., born 1955, is a medical doctor specialising in blood diseases (US-educated) and teaching at the University of Iceland.

He is also a gifted composer and author of texts of
"Icelandic" Latino music!

As a teenager he studied classical guitar with the guitarist Eyþór Þorláksson. During college and his first year in University he played with a group called "Diabolus in Musica", composing part of the music recorded by the group in 1975. Since completing his studies in USA in 1991 and moving back to Iceland, he has been active performing now and then with his former comrades in music. Among others with the group "Six-Pack Latino", that has performed latino music as well as some of the old "Diabolus" hits, along with music composed by Páll Torfi and Tómas R. Einarsson. The group recorded two discs in 1997 and 1999.

In the year 2003 his song "Ferrari" was one of the runners-up to the Eurovison Song Contest in Iceland. A very nice and funny song, that you can hear played every now and then on the radiostations, even though it didn´t make it into the "big" contest. Asked about his song at the time, Páll Torfi described it as..."a sing-and-dance tune, afro-cuban chacha or "salsa" as some would call it".

Ferrari
1
In the middle of day, in Monaco,
sun was shining,
- not so long ago -
wind from the sea...
Right in front of me
a man
- in a red Ferrari
2
He smiled so sweet
and caressed the wheel
- I was beat! -
He said:
"Please take seat
beside me
- in my Ferrari!"
3
Like in a haze,
in clouds,
flying,
like in a daze,
I was sighing...
So there,
he shifted the gear
to fourth
- in his Ferrari.
4
And the wind blew
- cooling my cheeks -
along the lanes we flew
like streaks...
He was so cool,
with his shiny red tool.
It was like nothing else
- his red Ferrari!
